<p style="text-align: left;"><span style="color: #000000;"><a href="http://springfieldfire.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/2010-Star-of-Life-Award-007a.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-372" title="2010 Star of Life Award" src="http://springfieldfire.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/2010-Star-of-Life-Award-007a.jpg" alt="2010 Star of Life Award" width="422" height="221" /></a>Ohio Chapter of the American College of Emergency Physicians EMS Star of Life Award:  Ohio ACEP EMS Star of Life Awards are designed to honor Ohio’s exceptional EMS personnel, recognize Ohio’s emergency medical services system and organizations, reunite the EMS provider with the person treated, generate positive media stories regarding pre-hospital care, and magnify the profile of National EMS Week in the State of Ohio.  The EMS Star of Life Awards Committee evaluated nominations on a model patient care, protocols and proper treatment and extraordinary documentation.</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;">As part of the recognition ceremony on May 19, 2010, twelve Springfield Township Fire Department employees were awarded the EMS Star of Life Award for their dedication, training and commitment to providing day to day life saving services; exceptional patient care, adherence to protocols, proper treatment, extraordinary documentation and the response to emergency incidents promptly and with exemplary professional action.</span></p>
<p><strong><span style="color: #000000;">The recipients of this award include:  Captain William Montrie, Lieutenant Charles Butler, Justin Eccleston EMT-P, Sean Baney EMT-P, Jeffrey Merrill EMT-P, Jonathan Gillen, EMT-P, Lynda Bennett EMT-P, William Dodson EMT-B, Joseph Purtee EMT-P, Dwain Sigmon EMT-B, Thomas Hites EMT-B, Ryan Grant EMT-P. </span></strong></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"><strong>Personnel were recognized for their EMS services when they were dispatched in the early morning of December 16, 2009, for two pedestrians struck by a train on McCord Road.</strong></span></p>

<p><span style="color: #000000;">The fire safety poster contest is conducted during National Fire Prevention Week each year in October.  This program encourages elementary students to design artwork illustrating positive behavior statements relative to fire safety.  All elementary students are encouraged to join in this event.  Our Fire Prevention Officer will be working with the schools again this Fall to encourage students to particapte in the event and to find next year&#8217;s winner!  Winning entries will receive special recognition in the Spring of the following year.   </span></p>
